I am looking for tips on hardening a current homes or new ones structure, from break in's, now and in case of SHTF.

Do it yourself type thing for windows, doors, vents holes.

Also, looking for idea's on camouflaging root cellars and and food stores.

I love videos, a picture is worth a thousand words

Roses or other prickly bushes under windows.
Solid core wood or metal doors with either none or small windows up high.
Windows could be tinted to reduce visability to interior which makes them wonder if someone is home or not.
Vent holes could have heavy expanded metal placed on the interior side.
Depending on root celler type you could build a potting shed over entrance with a table built to cover the entrance. Cheap potting soil and pots placed on table and some other pots, tools placed for effect.

Do Google search for tornado protection/hardening.
Lots to learn from homes in tornado alley and the things others have done DYI.
Best idea IMHO is a safe room. Costs are too high to do whole house.
Always have an escape exit if things go south - i.e. house catches on fire.

blue skies!
