You are probably in for a long wait. Longer than if you bought the suppressor today and submitted your form 4 tomorrow. If it does pass, you'll get your $200 back. If it doesn't pass, you'll have your suppressor. Many people are waiting for the hearing protection act to pass, so suppressor prices have been depressed meaning that there are deals to be had. If/when the act passes, demand will shoot up along with prices. Availability will be very limited, unlike right now.Im waiting to see if the Hearing protection act goes through before I think of getting one.
That's a bad plan for a few reasons. The wait time now for stamps will be replaced with an even longer time waiting for stock to show up on shelves. If you're serious about getting one, suck it up and get in line for one now. Prices will skyrocket, and supply would never fulfill demand. We also don't have a gun friendly supermajority in the house or senate, so passing the HPA would be an insane feat in of itself.Im waiting to see if the Hearing protection act goes through before I think of getting one.
Plus silencer technology over there has to be primitive compared to the industry over here that's driven by civilian sales and military contracts.Meanwhile, here in poor old yUK, we can walk into the gun store with our Firearms Certificate and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and walk out again with it in your hand.....
Mind you, there ARE a couple of downers.
1. You HAVE to have that Firearms Certificate annotated for 'moderator'.
2. In England, Scotland and Wales there are no handguns generally available to the average shooter. And in Northern Ireland they are prohibited on handguns...
