Pew first: Gun rights top gun control in major public opinion shift

"Exactly two years after President Obama's bid for gun control following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting died in Congress, a new poll has discovered a huge shift in public opinion to backing Second Amendment gun rights and away from controlling gun ownership.

The reason: Americans now believe having a gun is the best way to protect against crime, 63 percent to 30 percent."

What matters most is who is being polled. If they are polling the same people polled before that where in favor of more gun control and now favor the 2A, that's a big swing and means something. If they decided to poll a more 2A friendly crowd, doesn't carry as much weight. Just who is Pew polling.

They bring up a good point about American's perception of crime and homicide not tracking along with actual statistics. The rate is dropping, but Americans think it's rising.

Gee, maybe if the MSM wasn't constantly in print and on TV railing about out-of-control "gun crime" and "firearm related deaths" Americans would be more realistic. As it is presently, anyone (politician) with an anti-gun message gets first billing on the evening news.

Their message is backfiring in their faces.
And I must say, I love it!

Public doesn't read much nor do they understand a lot. However they do watch some news and what do they see? It's all either riots or anti cop video so of course people will seek to defend themselves and their rights.

The truth comes from and who the polls were taken from ie metro areas or rural areas. If you conducted a poll to include most of the rural areas from the western states it would show a big support for the second amendment and the right to own/carry guns. The metro liberals just the opposite.

The 2nd Amendment is a very clearly worded amendment.
It means what it says without acrobatics or interpretation.

Those rights "Shall not be Infringed"

That is very simple for an intelligent free man.
Not so for an idiot or Socialist or Marxist or Communist..
