There are probably dozens of anti gun organizations from around the country telling New York to get rid of the appeal any way possible. If the USSC decides that strict scrutiny applies to 2A cases then all of the court rulings upholding gun laws on more lenient reviews (rational basis or intermediate scrutiny) would become void overnight until the same law was reviewed under strict scrutiny. Lots at stake, regardless of whether the ban on transporting handguns to a second home is upheld.
