I agree that the idiots walking around with long guns (which serve no useful defensive purpose) at Starbucks or wherever are asshats looking for attention.

I completely disagree when it comes to holstered handguns.

If the average citizen goes into panty-peeing hysterics that I have a gun openly on my hip, then I expect those same hysterics when it comes to police, who do exactly the same thing for exactly the same reasons. But the cops (Who kill a lot more innocents than CCW-holders by WIDE margins) aren't even worthy of notice. Nope, it's some panty-waist who thinks the very fact that he can SEE a gun is a threat.

Funny, wasn't too long ago in Portland I think, a hipster coffee or donut shop owner told a Cop to leave because he was scaring away customers with his heater. Some member posted it on here.

Those who are saying open carry rallies are negative or don't work.. can you please detail the Wa State anti gun legislation that passed in 2013 after the record 5,000 gunners rallied, many of us open carrying slung long guns? Hearing crickets...

How do you know open carry rallies didn't cause I-594? I respect you, but on this we disagree.

OK Dave Ross is conducting a meeting? about How do we keep the community safe and still have the 2nd amendment?
Well....... the second amendment is what makes us safe.
But the point is I won't be making it to this discussion in Seattle and it would be great if some people could tell Mr Ross that the 2 are the same, safety and the 2nd amendment

That was the Red and Black Cafe. I don't think you'll find any pro-2A folks in that place. Not the kind of spot I'd hang out anyway.(NONAME762-this is me... I remember a store north of 50th and U Way in the District IDK 20+ears ago called Red and Black Books. Nothing but Commie and Marxist books. Basically all socialist revolution crapola. Nowhere a self respecting gun owner might hang his/her hat.

Twenty or so years ago IIRC it was the Brady Bunch what tried to pass I-596? When the vote came in something like 75-80% of Washington voters said NO. The anti's of back then were trying basically the same as they're trying now. They just didn't have Bloomie's 50 million
in their war chest. His money is no good here.

Time for some nostalgia, during which I am probably repeating myself. During the 1950s, as a teenager, I carried my Winchester 62A openly around LaGrande. Since I lived near the western border of town, I would walk the several blocks with my rifle to go plinking out in the BLM(?) land outside town. One evening a week I would ride my bike through town to the gun range with my rifle across the handlebars. (Not the best practice, but I was a teenager.) No one ever questioned my actions, destination, or method of carry, because such activities were not uncommon.

There is not much point to this post other than I wonder what the hell happened.

Ahem... the final takeover of this nation cannot be accomplished by our would be masters, whilst we remain well armed. This is why they took over media and entertainment

Open carry rally's - YEA! Open carry richard heads, antagonizing citizens and police -NAY!

The Blaze is probably not popular on this forum. However, to quote the headline from a story last January:

"A Right not Exercised is Soon Lost"

To further roil the waters, here is the full quote from a comment on the story:

"A right not exercised is soon lost; I have no respect for anyone claiming to be a defender of the 2nd Amendment yet is too timid to open-carry."

The OP is correct. "Gun owners will be the demise of 2nd Amendment"

So is this a conundrum or a catch 22? Cause we are damned if we do or damned if we don't
Timid or just not liquid enough to fight the battle for all others? Cause some will get accosted by police and some arrested. Then who pays the legal bills?
Who pays the house payments while the guy is looking for a new job cause he was arrested and lost his job for not showing up?
See where I'm going?
Sure some can get away with it.Gogo dawgs or whatever did cause he looked like G.Gordon Liddy or a police detective. Not all will be overlooked.
Then there is areas that this is fine and others that will get you a big delay till the police ask you all the dumb questions and you can convince them you are within your rights to OC

Only way this will be universally excepted is if every gun owner did it the same week and had all the state laws in their pocket to hand out every time a person confronted them or the popo were called and we just continued to do so

I open carry in public almost daily and have never been hassled. I think many are hurting us by instilling fear in others that might otherwise exercise their right. As to the right itself? If your not free to exercise it in the first place then the right no longer exists.

Dave Ross is conducting a meeting?

Musta missed that.

If it wasn't for carry rallies, we probably wouldn't get the support we need to keep many of the gun legislation at bay.

Gun right organizations might be able to remove or repeal gun laws, but gun rallies keep them from ever making the laws get to the State Senate for signing.
