You don't care if he's a statist, elitist, socialist, or geologist because you are a single issue kinda guy. Yup, shameful.

Amazing that you would assume you know me and make this type of bovine scat comment. You couldn't be any more wrong if you tried.

That's an interesting perspective. How do you both think an Executive Order gets around the Constitution? EO's circumvent Congress for establishing a law initially; that does not guarantee it will stand up to Constitutional scrutiny. Plus Congress can always undercut any EO through legislation (which goes back to 1994...do you think any politician wants to sign their own career death warrant supporting something like that?)

Won't matter to the chief thief, all he has to do is have an order written out and sign it, then let the "little people" fight it through the courts for years. In the meantime it's the law of the land.

Highly doubtful.

Annnnnd there's two.

Did you miss the fact the Herbert Walker Bush aka Old Shrub did an assault weapons ban via an executive order.
Given that, you actually doubt that Obama would not do that?
You sure have a lot of faith in a man who while campaigning has promised to close Gitmo, pull troops out of Iraq within 6 months, have the most transparent administration, have all bills available on line for at least 48 hours before signing and not allow lobbyists access to the administration.
Remind me again which of the above promises he has kept?

No, didn't miss it - but since you brought it up, what did he ban? He banned the importation of assault rifles that also had U.S.-built counterparts that still existed and were able to be sold.

Let's think about that for a minute. A sitting U.S. President banned imported goods under the auspices of danger yet did nothing to U.S. manufacturers of similar types of weapons. Money that might otherwise leave the country under what was not the most financially propserous time for the U.S. was being kept in-house for those who really felt the need to have assault-style weapons.

Huh. Funny, that. It's probably silly to think a President would act to protect U.S. business interests, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

What was the result of the Supreme Court challenge on that regarding the Constitution? Or was there one? That's a genuine question - I don't recall any serious effort or outrage that made it a constitutional issue then. I tried to look it up, but couldn't really find anything more than a passing reference to Bush/Bennett.

The rest of what you named - that was no surprise. Clinton promised to remove the ban on gays in the military, and came up with that silly "don't ask don't tell" policy. Politicans make promises they can't deliver - not because they don't want to, but generally they find out that the Great Beauracratic Machine will not accept change. It's the things he hasn't promised and worked on that I'm okay with. It's like any of the many work projects I've either sponsored or been a part of; seeing one deliver on time and on budget is a minor miracle. This is significantly bigger.

For the record, I wouldn't have felt closing Gitmo was correct, nor did I think 6 months was realistic for a withdrawl. I don't think Obama knew that, and I think that was idealism that got kicked in the teeth by reality. It happens.

It had nothing to do with protecting US business, HWB was a closet anti gunner and he bold faced lied to the NRA during the campaign in a full page American Rifleman ad which he and the VP snake Dan Quayle signed saying "There will be no gun bans on our watch".

And there were no domestic makers of HK roller locked rifles, OR Franchi SPAS 12 shotguns, etc.. banned from import were some of the finest and most reliable semi auto weapons ever made on this rock.. that was no accident

Did you really just stick the SPAS-12 in the same category as HK rifles?

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Please don't say things like that when I'm drinking a soda. Now I have to clean the keyboard.
