most of the guns were obtained from Belgium. In fact most of the illegal firearms smuggled throughout the EU come from the leftover weapons from the Balkans and they find their way to countries like Belgium that looser restrictions than the rest of the EU. France is a really good example of how a high price of admission for access to firearms forces citizens to acquire weapons on the black market for self defense.

Affluent people live in safe neighborhoods which don't require the need for weapons yet they are the only ones that can afford them. While people that live in poorer areas cannot afford access to firearms yet criminals often acquire them on the black market.

Its quite strange having lived in Europe for almost 5 years in the US ARMY. I did learn that affluent socialized nations with high taxes have a lot less violence. Germany, Norway, and Denmark were eye openers in that having a lot less poverty resulted in a lot less petty crimes that reduced the instance for violence/murder. Also having free higher education resulted in a much better educated society that can compete on the global economy. Your average Norwegian/German is equipped with a much better education than your average American. Access to education = access to better quality of life and reduced poverty decreases crime. Less crime = less violence. 50 percent taxes results in services for rehabilitation and mental healthcare.

I have a lot more respect for socialized nations because their social/political attitude is more about the total community welfare as opposed to the individual. Especially coming from the military where we put the team over the individual. Something gets lost in total individuality in America where neighbors don't give a damn about each other.

NO civilian person may LEGALLY own the military issue AK47, which has a full-auto capability. Was this an AK47 or the later AK74? NO AK74s can be found in legal ownership anywhere in Europe.

All semi-auto versions of the AK may be legally-owned in Europe, except for Italy and France and UK. The latter , prohibits military calibre firearms - to a certain extent, but in UK ALL semi-auto centrefire rifled firearms were prohibited after the 1986 Hungerford Massacre, in which the perp used an M1 carbine clone and a semi-auto AK47 clone of some kind, as well as a handgun.

Another oddity. I didn't mention the UK, but I did specifically point out the numbers displayed for the socialist Scandinavian countries.

Do you have a reading problem or did you just decide to ignore what I wrote to bolster your opinion?
And do the Scandinavian countries count VC the same way the U.K. does?

Well, Sir, that's not a very friendly post, now is it? I can read perfectly well, thanks, and as the chart you posted showed UK right up there at the top, I kinda figured that was the point of your post - to show how mean and murderous them UK-ites are, even by comparison with the so-called socialist countries in Europe and Scandinavia.

Don't have an opinion to post here, just a point of view, since I live in the UK rather more than I care to, and I'm therefore, as a former part of the legal system here, more likely to be able to spot the snake oil in the gutter press than a well-intentioned person some six thousand miles away reading a six-year old newspaper.

And to answer your question in a polite way, rather than asking what your beef is, the UK is the only country in Europe that calls assault and battery of a minor kind, like a thump in the gob, a crime of violence. Seems to me that you either have an anger management problem, or you are a xenophobe, but whichever one it may be, I accept your apology with good grace.

Why would I make the UK the focus of a reply regarding socialism and violent crime?
The article compares the crime rates for most of Europe.
You made an assumption about facts not in evidence tac.

I clearly avoided mentioning the UK in what I wrote.
