Bloomberg state-level gun threat recalls little-heeded warning: <broken link removed>

The paid staffer who heads anti-gun billionaire and outgoing New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns revealed the strategy the group will use to advance its demands across the nation, a report by the Associated Press documented Wednesday.

"In 2012, the mayor spent about $10 million or so dipping his toe in the water," the AP report quoted MAIG executive director and "progressive" lobbyist Mark Glaze.

"I guess we'll find out what the whole foot looks like in 2014," Glaze threatened, prompting St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner Kurt Hofmann to venture an opinion on the type of boot that foot will be wearing.
Glaze's announcement should concern all advocates of the right to keep and bear arms, as he revealed that foot will be stomping all over, requiring activists to defend against new professionally-coordinated, administered and financed assaults on multiple fronts.

"The head of Bloomberg's organization says that the billionaire New York mayor is installing paid staff in more than a dozen states expected to take up gun control legislation next year to complement a robust Washington lobbying operation and television ads," the AP report explains.

This is unprecedented and serious. While Bloomberg's influence has been well documented in states like Colorado and Virginia, his establishment of the infrastructure needed to wage simultaneous state-level campaigns has been all but ignored, except by a very few.

"Bloomberg's MAIG expanding &#8216;action group' efforts to states," this column reported in July. "[The] anti-gun group has quietly been registering its lobbying efforts in several states ... The Mayors Against Illegal Guns Action Group, a 501(c)(4) corporation, has registered with numerous states since September of last year."

Note those entities are all controlled by the same cadre of Bloomberg's high-level national officers, meaning the new "AstroTurf" efforts will continue to be directed by moneyed and connected special interests, as opposed to a grassroots activists, although there will no doubt be some dozens of those available when the strategic plan calls for a tactical photo op.

The July report received little attention, with no national or state gun rights groups alerting their members and establishing coordinated plans for grassroots activists to even learn about, let alone guard against newly-established threats in their own back yard. Unless that changes, the way gun owners will find out what Bloomberg has planned for their state is after they are attacked.

It need not be that way. There are ways for state and local activists to develop better intel on MAIG's activities so that their efforts can be less reactive and more proactive.

First, they must determine if MAIG has opened up shop in their state. The July report lists all the states identified at that time. In order to determine if any more states have been added since that report, the Coordinated Legal Tech website provides an online resource by state to conduct corporate searches.

The list is expanding. At the time the July report was filed, no MAIG entity had been registered in the state of Illinois. That has since changed, and just since last week. It's evident the group intends to have a lobbying infrastructure ready to hit the ground running everywhere.

Interested readers can find out which states were listed in the July report by reading that article. For states added since then, they can use the above Coordinated Legal Tech link to see if theirs has since been added to the list.

They can then share links to this report and the earlier one with fellow activists, and especially with local, state and national gun groups, to focus attention on maneuvers that have been largely ignored outside the limited reach of this column . Or, they can ignore these developments, and figure others will handle things.

Those would be the people who serve Michael Bloomberg as the foot soldiers in his personal war on guns.

Yes they are the same skunks but the energy at the federal level is currently against more gun laws IMO. More than anything because they are so dysfunctional. I don't see a lessening of these creatures attacks, just a shift to state and local venues
