I don't clean my .22s often, but when I do I use Wipeout foaming bore cleaner.

Wipeout is great, it's all I use, regardless of cartridge.

I use Sweets when I am breaking in a new rifle barrel, brace yourself for the smell.

Been there, done that ... works great. Just run an empty load with a bunch of LemiShine from your case cleaning kit after to make the inside of the DW clean and nice smelling.

Make your own. The formula for Ed's Red is available online. Four ingredients available at any hardware store. Add lanolin for extra rust protection.


I haven't purchased a commercial bore cleaner in over 25 years.
