Guarded by police, woman slain

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Investigators were trying to determine Thursday how a man got into a woman's apartment and killed her while police stood watch outside, Los Angeles police said.

Police at the scene shot the attacker but not before he fatally stabbed the woman, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The woman, whose identity had not been disclosed late Thursday, had gone to a police station to file a domestic abuse complaint Wednesday night. Officers who specialize in domestic abuse cases talked with her and brought her back to her home, the newspaper said.

The officers saw the woman into her apartment and checked to be sure the man she accused in the complaint was not there, police said. The officers left the apartment but decided to wait outside in their car, keeping watch for a sign of the suspect.

Investigators think the man got into the apartment through a rear window, a police source told the newspaper.

Officers heard the woman scream and rushed into the apartment to find the attacker stabbing her. Police shot the attacker and both he and the woman were rushed to a hospital where they died.

This is why I believe that all good standing American citizens need to have a gun in their home and taught how and when to use it correctly, this is called Gun Control or maybe Crime Control.

Gun control is using both hands and aiming for the center mass.

That would be a great slogan, but it would send the anti-gunners into a frenzy.

Back in the 60's, there used to be a bumper sticker that read something like this: "If you don't like the police, the next time you get in trouble, call a Hippy!" Maybe that is the best thing to do! Any Hippys available out there?

When seconds count, the police are only OUTSIDE YOUR FREAKIN' DOOR!:s0001:

Once in a generation a post comes along that is so clever, so ingenious, so well-timed, that it compels you to literally spit soda out of your nose.

This is one of those posts.

I salute you, sir.

People seem to forget that even police agencies have made it very clear (for liability reasons) that protecting the populace is not their job. They are only there to enforce the law and maintain the peace...not to protect anyone from harm. You are on your own when it comes to protecting yourself. They have even removed "to serve and protect" from most agency mottos and banners.

No no. In the bean bag thread the apologists are telling is it IS their duty. Which is it? Should they protect us from evil spouses and 12 year old girls... err... I mean 12 year old, 300 lb, two headed, people eating, meth crazed, komodo dragons, or not?
