It came pretty assembled.
I just removed my 45acp top end, and slid on the 22lr top.
I could not install the slide release so I tride to pull it back off, just to fail.
I just soaked it in rem oil, so I'm going to see if that helps.
Seems like the slide release "eye" on the barrel doesn't fit right and the top of barrel is chewing against the slide when i cycle it.

So I got it off after soaking in oil..
the conversion barrel was jammed against my frame (look at pics)
And I just read up on the conversion..
for series 70-80 colts and copys, some people have had problems fitting to the ria frames..
looks like I'm gon to sell a scratched new conversion kit..
thanks for the help.

I have a 1968 Colt National Match (pre Gold Cup) and I bought a vintage gen 2 Colt Ace conversion for it.
It works flawlessly, unlike the Ceiner type conversions that I have tried.
I have heard that the Kimber conversions are way better in fit and function.

Yeah my buddy has a 70 series colt with the gsg conversion.
so I figured sense my ria is almost an exact copy it would work..
guess not.
so I'm going to sell or trade it off cheap cuz I scratched it, and when my taxes come get the kimber one.
if heard nothing but great things about then, was just trying to get away with spending 2 instead of 350.
I should have read up better on the gsg's, lesson learned.

I spent more on the original Colt Ace mags then I did on the conversion kit.
The super nice & light trigger on my NM Colt is a perfect match for shooting .22lr ammo.
I'm real happy with the setup and never shoot .45 acp through it anymore because it's meant to handle lightly charged target load wad cutters.

Birchwood Casey makes a touch up pen that will fix the scratch on the slide.
Just clean off the oil with some acetone and touch it up.
Works great on AR's and other black anodized parts.

That lug where it is rubbing on your frame can be fitted pretty easy with a flat file. You can see where it is rubbing now flat file that area to relieve it..

Then it it will go boom boom boom!!
