I tripped over a great quote I'd used years back in a discussion the other day. I'd totally forgotten it but it was so perfect in that discussion. I thought it would be good to have a thread where we could copy paste these gems to support our arguments when new laws or just liberal smack talking comes up. This one I'd like to memorize, and not forget again.

Judge Alex Kozinski, a Jewish refugee from Eastern Europe, summed up his pro-gun argument/anti-restriction argument in his dissent in Silveira v. Lockyer:

"The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed—where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once."

I like the DOOMSDAY WHERE ALL OTHER RIGHTS HAVE BEEN LOST argument. It simplifies things for the simple people who by voting or abstaining have elected Socialists disguised as Santa Clause in recent years. If you want to be treated like a kid on Christmas you're gonna lose some rights.

Better hold on tight to that 2nd A! Once it's gone you ain't gonna get it back!

Here's a newer one I like.
The right is absolute. In a free nation, government has no authority to forbid me from speaking because I might shout "fire" in a crowded theater. Government has no authority to forbid me from using my fist to defend myself because I might also use it to strike your nose. And government has no authority to forbid me from owning a firearm because I might shoot an innocent victim.

"My favorite thing about the gun control debate in America is that the exact same people who insist that buying a gun at a store, which at a minimum requires a government-issued ID and background check, is too easy will also tell you that requiring an ID to vote is an impossibly high hurdle to expect average people to overcome."

One of my favourite quotes came from somebody I knew in NY who had an attempted car hi-jack by three young men. One of them said, 'Get out of the car right now, how's that sound?' He replode as he pulled out his handy Glock, 'There are three of you, so you get six each shots each...how's that sound?'

They ran away and got into a car that was in full view of his dashcam. They were picked up in less than ten minutes. That'll teach 'em to pick on an off-duty detective lieutenant.
