I was thumbing through that SB978.

There are some lines that are absolutely nuts and have nothing to do with anything!

Example:

Restricting the age limit for:

"(b) 'Ammunition component' includes primers, powder and accessories that are used to create, modify or reload ammunition.

"(d) 'Firearm accessory' means any device that attaches to a firearm, or that is used in or facilitates the operation of a firearm, including but not limited to stocks, grips, detachable magazines and speedloaders.

I just love this line (NOT!):

"(3) If a person obtains an unsecured firearm as a result of the owner or possessor of a firearm violating subsection (1) of this section and the firearm is used to injure a person or property within two years of the violation, the owner or possessor of the firearm who violated subsection (1) of this section is strictly liable for the injury.

I read this as being an admittance that "trying to squeeze blood from turnip" is the mindset of the Anti-2A supporters. Criminals are criminals and usually don't have much for the State to "take" from them for their crimes. BUT, a legal firearm owner usually has A LOT that the State can take! Up to, and including, all of their possessions that they legally acquired!

Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford's anti-gun foundation was delighted with the bill even before the super-secret amendments were added. In a statement, spokeswoman Robin Lloyd said:

"Gun violence hurts hundreds of Oregon families each year. The proposed provisions in the bills heard today are the critical next steps that Oregon should take to save lives. For example, homemade, * untraceable ghost guns pose serious threats to law enforcement and communities impacted by gun violence. A commitment from lawmakers to stem the flow of these firearms will ensure criminals aren't able to easily **get their hands on an undetectable weapon. Today's hearings highlight a serious commitment by the legislature to reduce the epidemic of gun violence in Oregon. I applaud Attorney General Rosemblum [sic] and the Oregon legislature for prioritizing these lifesaving measures."

SB 978-1 includes commonsense (nonsense!!!) efforts to reduce gun violence like requiring safe storage of firearms, holding gun owners accountable to make sure kids don't get their hands on a gun, requiring gun owners to report lost or stolen firearms, and providing increased regulation of 3D-printed guns and unfinished frames or receivers, ***parts used to produce ghost guns. (source)

*
Prove it! They can't show where even one 80% firearm has been used in a crime, much less against law enforcement!!!

** Untraceable or undetectable? Are we a little confused? Or are we just full of hyperbolic rhetoric?

*** All my spare parts can be used to produce a "ghost gun". I cannot keep spare parts without becoming a felon?

I suppose if you have to defend yourself your best option is to turn around and walk away nonchalantly. If you have to defend yourself at home, you are screwed.

Edit: to clarify i mean walk away AFTER defending yourself, no sense in getting involved with explaining your actions to anyone.

I finally figured out why they're so rabid on this extreme draconian gun control legislation... They need to ensure this is in place, to protect themselves from the populace after they unleash their proposed $6B in new taxes...

That's right folks, new proposed takes that would result in a whopping $1,429.00 increase for every man, woman and child in the state of Oregon, based upon an estimated population of 4.2M.

Let that sink in, then think about the unemployment rate, illegal immigrants and homeless... Yup, it'll be closer to $2K per head for those of us who pay taxes...

So sad what's happening to this once great state...

*Allies incoming* airsoft is a sport growing in popularity and younger people (and some older) tend to deck out their airsoft guns with *gasp* evil firearm attachments.

Voting age or not, they will be one day:D

Im starting to apreciate the dems circular firing squad for small and subtle self defeating nuances of it.

Just a note a Scope is something attached to a firearm. This bill would make it illegal for a 20 year old to buy a Scope! OR a SLING

And as I have said before this STUPID bill has no provisions I can see for the THOUSANDS of Oregonians between 18 and 20 who already own firearms. This would mean they couldn't buy ammo for themselves HOW STUPID.

Woah there, slings can be used for carrying assault rifles. theres no reasonable need for anyone that young to strap a rifle over their shoulder, its not like any one HUNTS in oregon. What is this the 1700's?

Ok, got it.

I'm totally not up on the legalities. My understanding was that after shooting I might want to GTFO, but I should be on the cell to Law Enforcement once my safety is assured... Do you know what the law says? Is it similar to leaving the scene of an accident, or is it a gray area?

Hmm. Design a new AR barrel shroud. Call it the "Auto-Wash". It's basically a shroud with a plate that you can attach to your washing machine. Put an unbalanced load in and "presto". Instant legal bump stock and it makes all washing machines become firearms accessories. And banned ones at that.

What can I say? I have an evil mind.

MAYBE contact authorities through an attorney next day. Low level Leo's have only one mindset. Rather contact a lawyer when I am not in jail.

your best bet to not be convicted of a crime, is to keep your mouth shut.
most of the people in jail/prison put themselves there. The incessant need to explain what happened is their downfall. The old "tell us your side of the story" is b.s., Just a tool to hang you.

And run by a left-wing socialist woman with mental issues; got drunk and kissed her college room mate, no tongue work "down there" by either of them, so thinks she is a lesbian, or a bi-sexual. It's a mental condition called "delusional". Wonder if her hubby is confused "what" he is getting into bed with every night.
