Walked into a Bellingham gun shop while waiting for my wife to finish shopping elsewhere in toan. Usually they don't have much in the way of C&R stuff. Today they had three (!) Garands. took a look at them all. Priced from 899 up to 1500 dollars. Asked to look at them. Both the 1500 and 1200 dollar ones were typical 1960's rebuilds with pimped out shiny stocks.

Third one was different. Wat appeared to be all WWII parts with original stock. Rhe guy behind the counter said the barrel was shot out and was a 5 throat erosion. and had been shot with corrosive ammo and not cleaned. Too a good look anyway and offered 800, which they took. While waiting for NICS call, they brought out some more stuff.

Stripped it when I got home. all original, correct late (June 1945) WWII Garand. The padded case is for a Navy radio antenna assy, but the Garand fits well. There is discooloration on the bottom of the case showing where it probably sat on either a garage or basement floor and got wet, causing some rust damage to the muzzle of the rifle. That all cleaned up very well, with just a few small pits that are covered up by the gas cylnder lock. All told, the case, 2 spam cans of 1953 dated Lake City 30-06 and the rifle were 800 plus tax.

That's nice, but, they wanted $900 for one with a shot out barrel?!!!!

Got plans?

This IS the one with the "shot out" barrel. Measured a 1.5 on my TE gauge.

Already stripped, cleaned and shot.

For an all original, correct WWII Garand, bore condition only detracts a little for most collectors.

Nope, not a 5. I don't know how they measured it as they don't have a TE gauge at the store.

Did I tell my wife? I did the same as any red blooded american.....hid it in the trunk.

A rare clear cartouche N.F.R. (Norman F. Ramsey) Serial number range 3,272,000
to 3,870,000. Fits your rifle's Serial Number!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Nov. 1944 to June 1945.
Nice score an original WW 2 rifle. Early locking bar rear sight. It seems this is not
your first Garand owning a throat erosion gauge? Does it have a uncut op rod?
My first DCM Garand had a uncut op rod. Let's see some more pics of your Garand(s)
PLEASE. :D:D Check out CMP M-1 picture thread 208 pages of MAN porn.:oops:
