I wonder how many other non-firearm related ads they will continue to allow that are for products that are hazards to people - cars, sporting goods like bats, baseballs, soccer balls, etc. Hypocrites the lot of them.

It isn't the browser the presents the ads, it is the search engine and google is by far the most popular.

Personally, this will not impact me - they are not filtering their search results and I ignore the ads. Indeed, I run an ad blocker so I never see any ads anyway, guns or otherwise.

So Google doesn't make ANY ad revenue off of me via their search engine .

When will the madness stop? The 2nd Amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It is our right to enjoy the outdoors, to enjoy shooting our AR-15 or .300 Win Mag. It's our right to give those weapons to whomever we feel fit. We are a society built on free will and choices, but until we get rid of the socialists who populate Washington D.C. our issues will continue to grow. The numbers below are amazing and you don't hear congress going after Marlboro or Jack Daniels.

You need to put some formatting on those numbers - they come out in billions otherwise.

Interesting, I wonder if they will push this over to YouTube or G+? That would really cause some serious issues.

Not showing/making money on ads through their own ads systems is one thing. Blocking content is a very different thing.

MAC has said he has had issues with them.

Simply do not use the Chrome browser, and use DuckDuckGo as your search engine. DDG returns guaranteed neutral results. Apple has a DDG extension for Safari that automatically routes all your searches through DDG. DDG doesn't take payment for higher search rankings, like Google and Yahoo.

Point of order, Google actually doesn't nor has it ever taken payment for higher rankings. I does have 'paid' results on the side and very top but those actually are labeled as such. Not sure about Yahoo doing this either. Most search engines that did this have gone by the way side a LONG time ago.

The Chrome browser does not collect personal info or search results - it doesn't need to. Any info that Google gets about your search results comes from either their search engine which you don't have to use, or from their DNS servers, which you don't have to use.

Personally I don't worry about it. Google is harmless compared to the NSA, and you should consider anything that you post or visit on the internet is immediately traceable to your identity anyway, regardless of which browser or search engine you use.

Unlike IE (do people still use this) which was proven to collect search data as long as you used the browser. Google actually discovered this and publicly shamed M$ over it. They discovered that Bing had similar results to Google Search but they lagged behind by a few weeks. So they setup a fake site, with no links to it or from it. And basically proved that IE (regardless of search engine being used in the browser) was sending results directly to Bing. Kind of sneaky and underhanded.
