I found the information I needed. Thanks to all.
Are you trying to sell it?
I want to know what I've got first.
Got any pics?
I thought I was uploading pictures but I keep getting the message I've exceeded my allowance. I'll work on it tomorrow.
From what you've described so far it sounds like it may be a refinished, arsenal or armorer rebuild. Pics will help. Should be able to do some research on your serial number range too, to help nail down what you have. If you're really nice, I'll show you pics of my original finish WWII Colt...
Thanks to all.
You are probably going to have better luck here 1911Forum there is a specific colt section.
I had the same problem, still do. I now host my pics at Photobucket and post them by typing this bracket [ then type img and enclose with ] bracket and place the link to my jpg, GIF, etc. file in between the commands. Then, close it with a bracket [ type this slash to indicate closure, / type the abbreviation for image, img ] bracket. Hope this helps !
BTW, your PM inbox is full. Couldn't send you a private message!!
Colts own serial number look up service give this info:
1914 "1911 .45 (COMMERCIAL) WITH C PREFIX, INCLUDING 1ST MODEL NATIONAL MATCH (1933-41)"
So no where near 1943 and the C serial number means its a commercial gun
I found the information I needed. Thanks to all...
Yea, I upgraded my photo hosting service too.
