MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER SHOOTING AT THREE MALES ATTEMPTING TO STEAL MARIJUANA

On Saturday September 28, 2013, at 4:08 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 13200 block of Southeast Division Street on the report that a man fired a gun at someone trying to steal marijuana from an outdoor grow.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted 44-year-old Robert Zachow, the apparent victim of the attempted marijuana theft. Officers also contacted three subjects in the neighborhood who were involved in the attempted theft.

Officers learned that the three subjects, 21-year-old Eric Presnall, an 18-year-old male and a 16-year-old male, attempted to steal Zachow's marijuana plants growing in the yard. Zachow confronted them with a shotgun and fired at the three who ran away.

None of the three were hit by gunfire.

The 16 and 18-year-old were released from the scene and not charged at this time.

Presnall was arrested on an outstanding warrant and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

Zachow was charged with three counts of Attempted Murder and booked into the Multnomah County Jail. He will be arraigned on Monday in Multnomah County Court.

Actually a Hell of a mess until the state figures out exactly what a "legal" marijuana grow is.

But I support the rights of the guy growing a crop a LOT before I defend the rights of the thieves who would steal it from him.

It's high time (pun intended) that the gov't got out of adults' lives and left us freedom of choice. One man's Wild Turkey is another man's doobage. However, nobody ever smoked so much weed they died from only that. Not so with Wild Turkey. However, if I leave my Wild Turkey in the backyard and some kids try to steal it, I'm not going to, nor may I, spray the neighborhood with gunfire. That's just bubblegumming stupid and dangerous to other people in the neighborhood and their property.

and I suspect some here are about to argue how this is wrong and a man should be able to use lethal force to defend their property (illegal or not)...

Bad judgment all the way around but now the cops can say they "cracked down on gun crime." hard to feel very sorry for any of these guys. He should have just held them at gunpoint until the cops could come and arrest him.
