Did customers actually ask for this? Or did someone at Glock decide all on their own, "Let's make a product for a niche already thoroughly covered by like a dozen other manufacturers that already offer quality products and likely for less money than we'll ask for!"?

Never actually owned a Glock product, and this certainly hasn't convinced me to change that.
