Statistics presented as valid without any definitions, calculation methods, or analysis transparency. This is just a JD Power ranking, and as such is meaningless, disingenuous and misleading.

I need to move where the state has an 'F'.

I'm getting an F. See you guys in summer school.

"Idaho weakened its already minimal laws in 2018 by enacting dangerous Stand Your Ground legislation. The state currently has no laws prohibiting bulk firearm purchases or regulating unsafe handguns. To improve its failing grade and save lives, Idaho should pass universal background checks and repeal policies like permitless carry and Stand Your Ground that encourage the reckless use of lethal force."

You guys scared to visit yet?

I like their methodology at the site they used.

Our Grading System
The attorneys at Giffords Law Center spend the year tracking and analyzing gun legislation in all 50 states, evaluating bills for their relative strength or weakness. Taking note of newly enacted laws, we use an exhaustive quantitative rubric to score each state on its gun law strength, adding points for safety regulations like universal background checks and extreme risk protection orders and subtracting points for reckless policies like "Stand Your Ground" and permitless carry laws. We then rank the states, convert point totals to letter grades, and compare our findings to the most recent gun death rates released by the CDC. Year after year, our research yields the same conclusion—stronger gun safety laws lead to lower gun death rates.

For those curious of what a rubic score method is: https://www.nvcc.edu/assessment/_do...ocs/FTW5.usingrubricsmeasurestuperf-spr13.pdf

Want to join the movement to build a safer America?

++++ points for all pro anti gun laws/bills put into effect
+++Less points if less laws
----------------------EVEN LESS POINTS FOR PRO GUN RIGHTS!!!?? REEEEEEEEEEEEEE :mad:

Then we just base it off CDC numbers (assuming by state and don't clarify between homicide/suicide etc) and associate all gun deaths as be all end all VOTE FOR MORE GUN CONTROL AND REMEMBER CALIFORNIA IS THE BASTION OF GUN CONTROL THAT WORKS!!

All I see is dick waving between states meme'ing over gun control as some sort of infallible shield because some legal lawyers are wasting peoples money.

Tfw you realise this aimed at younger generations who understand this crap its why they paint it like some sort of school assessment report.

What it says is that they found a way to associate disparaging data with red states. It's data manipulation at its finest. What else would you expect from progressive leftists?

Giffords Law Center....aren't they the same people that make those honest carnival games of chance?

Dunno about above but:

OREGON'S GUN DEATH RATE PER 100K PEOPLE: 12.1
Oregon strengthened its moderately strong gun laws in 2018 by prohibiting stalkers from owning firearms, expanding domestic violence protections to apply to dating partners, and improving law enforcement's ability to investigate attempted firearm purchases by prohibited people. Oregon could further raise its C+ grade by banning military-style weapons and enacting a child access prevention law.

Learn more about Oregon's gun laws.

HINT HINT WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE. Come on Oregon leaders do what we said here and we will upgrade you to a B!!!

You don't want to be like Texas and co do you?

Now funny enough my last post lists their methodology, heres the results from the CDC starting with California:

Stats of the State of California

Up next Texas

Stats of the State of Texas

So we see that even though California has an A in gun control laws, their deaths from firearms are 2nd behind Texas with 3,184. Texas has 3,353 and very lax gun laws. Which they also state come from the CDC. CDC lists these as recent as 2016...

On homicides:
Cali = 2,074
Texas = 1,669

Hmm....So the only reason why Cali isn't an F is because they have many gun control laws in place so let that conflict with CDC's numbers and its almost as if they don't work period!

How do your CA and TX numbers work out to per capita?

I love how our suggestions are blatantly against DC VS Heller at the very heart of it.

Apparently the new plan is to overwhelm the court system so they can have their gun control by legislating faster then they can handle the cases.

Can you imagine if we had the same? Every state pushing for silencers and full auto?

Shows you how unscrupulous people will win in a system of decay.. And those with respect for the legal system lose.

Here's an excellent breakdown of how they use stats to lie -- it is math heavy but very interesting and clearly addresses the gun ownership by state and country graphs you see so often: Everybody's Lying About the Link Between Gun Ownership and Homicide

There's a nice follow up to that one: Lying with Gun Data. Again. – Handwaving Freakoutery – Medium The funniest part is where he makes a fake data set that shows how as gun ownership reaches 100%, gun deaths drop to zero, but the trend line shows the opposite (no murders at 0% and many at 100%) -- the trend line shows the complete opposite of what the data set obviously showed. One trick in the way those charts are made showing a correlation based on red state v. blue, or Europe v. US, is to pass the trend line through the origin so no matter what the stats show (which , the line must always rise as it moves right:

The link they have highlighted with "dangerous handguns" goes nowhere. I'm really curious what those are.
