So there was an active shooter event in Tacoma, Washington, and this one cop drank his coffee, parked a ways away, zeroed his red dot, and used his police Cruiser to brace, then hit the bad guy, downed him in one shot at 183 yards. Bad guy had 3 different guns and was using them.

I remember listening to this when it was going down. Had not heard how long the shot was the guy took to take out this trash. Damn we need more like him. When this was going on as you can imagine all calls to police were put on hold since damn near everyone was at or heading to this. I have LONG told those I know who will not own a gun they should listen to police radio for a while. Many still "think" all they have to do is call 911 and help arrives. Some times all the "help" is a little tied up and you are on your own for a while.

A couple of months back we had the food court 40 yard drill for handgun proficiency. Looks like there will soon be a Munn 180 for rifle.
Most LE sniper shots are taken at under a 100 yards, IIRC 70 yards was the average, so while 183 yard shot is a pretty rare occurrence for LE it is not a very long shot for a rifle even with a RDS.

Standing, supported by car, 183 yards with a red dot, with the bad guy firing at him. Not many LEOs can be that calm and collected. Combat infantry/Marines though....
I do not believe he was taking fire, the shots heard were from the alley when scumbag was shooting at the other two cops on scene, when scumbag emerged from the alley Munn took him out, them scumbag offed himself with his pistol.

The longest shot to date is not as clear. The one incident we were able to best document was 187 yards, again in a hostage rescue operation handled by the Pennsylvania State Police. We were able to interview the sniper and he provided ample documentation to verify the distance. Legend has always mentioned a 400-yard sniper shooting at the Washington Monument as the longest on record. However, in keeping with our stated criteria of "a deliberate long rifle shot against a designated human target," we felt this one involved too many exceptional circumstances to qualify as a sniper shooting, per se. We were fortunate enough to be able to talk to one of the snipers involved that day. A protester, later identified as Norman David Mayer, claimed to have explosives in his van as it sat near the base of the monument. When the van started to drive away, a fusillade was unleashed in an effort to stop it. In reading the reports, it is revealed that as many as fourteen officers with rifles fired an undetermined number of rounds at the subject's van, allegedly with the intention of disabling the van. However, the driver was killed after being struck four times. The average recorded distance in this incident was 485 yards. It is also worth noting this is the earliest recorded use of night vision scopes by police snipers.

The average police sniper distance was 51 yards. Of all the sniper shots, 95% took place between zero and 100 yards. The rest were equally divided between the 100 to 150 yard bracket and the 150 to 250 yard bracket

It's worth noting that Officer Munn is not a designated sniper, to the best of my knowledge from the video, Officer Munn used his patrol rifle and it wasn't a "sniper rifle" in the sense that it's simply an AR15 with a red dot sight.

According to the video itself and the positioning of the map shown, the scumbag was indeed firing in Munn's direction on the other side of the block. It does seem like Officer Munn hit the suspect, but not killing, and the scumbag offed himself.

There seems there has always got to be someone to tell all "hey no big deal". Sure, easy to say from a computer after its done. That guy did an amazing job and knows how to use the tools he has. We could use more like him.
