George Romero, the man who originally kick started the Zombie movie craze with his film "Night of the Living Dead", has now died himself, at the age of 77:

All in all he made a name for himself and fun doing it...Sounds like a a good life.

Indeed, that sounds about right. :)

While he likely created no "film masterpiece" in the traditional sense, some of his work left an indelible mark on the horror genre. I've seen more than one film critic state that Night of the Living Dead (1968) was the turning point from the slower paced, B&W horror of yesteryear to the faster, gore-fests of the modern era, for good or ill or both. They may have a point. And Dawn of the Dead (1978), more or less, set the mold for the zombie genre for 40+ years.

RIP, Mr. Romero. You may have left us, but the ghouls you've unleashed upon popular culture are truly undead. :s0010:
