I am really trying. I think it is one of those shows that you have to watch for a few episodes to get into it. Sarah Connor chick is a horrible actress, but there are other interesting characters.

I haven't seen the show, as I don't have cable. The books however, are awesome indeed.

I can't really agree. The books allow for more inner dialog and a great explanation of the physical history, but the show is equal to the books in almost every way. It is sometimes nice to see your own version of someone else's story in your head, but to get to truly see and experience a completely foreign idea (untempered by our own person notions) has it advantages.
