Actually that's not accurate, at least here. Keep firing until the threat is neutralized, assess your surroundings and when the situation is clear, maybe do a reload and holster, call for medical, and if the suspect is still alive, handcuff them so they are no longer a threat.

FWIW, a little realism for the heck of it.

Personally I would think the threat would be neutralized when theor breathing has ceased and my barrel is smoking.

You never know what people are capable of. We've all seen the stories of people on drugs trying to run on snapped femurs, tasers having no affect, people being shot multiple times and not stopping.
