After I had received the 162OT Boot Knife, I got to thinking about a friend that has a birthday coming up on Wednesday the 15th. Well, I began scouring the internet for a gift and found a "Gift Box set of 2016 Special Edition knives from Schrade/Taylor (yes I know they're made in China, just like my Boot Knife). The tin contains the Sharpfinger Skinning Knife and Schrade's Old Timer Dogleg Jack.

The steel is the Same as my Boot Knife 7Cr17Mov steel (54-56 Rc). While it may require more frequent sharpening than either the 440C or the 1095 Carbon Steel, the price was irresistible. Wait for it... $17.98 shipped to my door! That winds up costing me $8.98 per knife! It doesn't get much better than that! I call that a screamin' deal!

They still have a few tin sets available on Blade Play, but hurry, at $13.99 + $3.99 shipping they won't last long.

Questions? Comments?

I wouldn't call that sinning. I'd say your title should be "Hey Brothers, Let's Get Pragmatic!"
How about being less of a puke and posting a link to this deal !

Sinning would be:
  • Not paying the mortgage for the month, but using the cash to buy a Tavor; :p
[edit] - I forgot, you don't like black guns. o_O
  • Buying ~$5,000 of guns without mama's permission (did that once - oops);
  • Blowing your gun budget on an escort service instead.

If you go to BladePlay.com and look under Schrade, you can find the pair in their tin box. If you want the deal, go through the prompts and spend the $17.98. (Pssst... it's worth the money)!

Knives are kind of personal. Send them to me, just to make absolutely certain that your friend will like them. This is of course as penance for your weakness and sinning. Once this is done, you may go forth and sin no more and we'll call it "even Steven".:p

I told you about the roommate that I bought the Schrade/Imperial Jackmaster Barlow (3Cr13 steel blade). The Dog Leg Jack is being gifted to her. (I get tired of sharpening the Jackmaster Barlow for her every week). She'll be 51 on the 15th. It will be useful to her, and that's what is important.

I must confess, though the 7Cr17Mov steel is comparable to AUS 6 steel, the additional hardness provided by the Molybdenum (Mov) in the alloy, it makes them sufficiently "wear-resistant". This allows the steel to hold a decent edge without making it so expensive that it is unaffordable.

A steel that performs well at a decent price is something to be enjoyed and used.

I really like the Sharpfinger. If you don't count the shipping, I paid $6.98 for each knife. The Sharpfinger is light and easy handling. You would be surprised at how much value can be extracted from these relatively inexpensive knives.

Put this in your "thinking mill". Wher can you get a skinning knife that:

(a) holds an edge reasonably well,

(b) is shaped for caping, camping, filleting, skinning and other delicate work.

All for $6.98 (or $8.98 including shipping).

When my wife bought me this I was obligated by our marital contract to forgive her:
