The 41 mag does a lot of things right, but I feel like most handgunners go with the 357 or 44 mag. It's like the 16 gauge falling between the 20 gauge and 12 gauge.

I have a 6" s&w 657 and when I carry a revolver hunting that's what's usually in the holster.

Agreed. The Middle Magnum is often left out. I completely missed the original post. This is a cool gun. I had a Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel and thought it was too long. The 5.5" should be a nice compromise.

I have two super blackhawks, a 45 colt and a 44 mag, both with 4 5/8 which I prefer to the longer barreled guns, but I wouldn't mind a 5.5" . Like you, I found the 6.5" barreled guns to be too long as well.

I sell quite a bit of it, maybe not all at once but over time. Again another what was old is new again caliber.
I've got quite a few friends that are gun people and have shot with a few others that were friends of friends. Other than shooting your .41 Magnum earlier this year, I've never laid eyes on one.

I had a friend that had one back in the day. Other than that as I do gun shows people ask about ammo and when enough ask about something like 41 Mag I buy a test fixture and start making that ammo. After a while when word gets out I become "that guy with the 41 ammo".

They've been around forever, well at least since the 50's but it's easy to miss them if you aren't looking for them. Kinda like Glocks a 41 Blackhawk looks like all the other Blackhawks in a sea of Blackhawks. The Model 57 and 58 Smiths are less common but cool in their own right.

I remember back in the '70s when I was a little kid I saw a nickel plated 6" S&W M57 and thinking it was the most beautiful handgun I'd ever seen. Up to that point I had not heard of the .41mag but that 57 made a huge impression and I have been a fan of the cartridge ever since. It didn't survive my cartridge purge years ago and I settled on the more commonly popular .44mag but I've always wished it was more mainstream.
