I'm a complete flashlight nerd. I have lots of different lights and I'm a snob so NO JUNK. Surefire, Streamlight and Fenix are my top contenders. Anywhere from 150 lumens to 2000 lumens is covered by my collection. I tend to like rechargeable lights and have several duplicate models so when one is charging one is available. It's a sickness I know.

The light I use the most is my Streamlight Microstream USB. I have two of course. And they are the LEAST powerful in my rotation. I EDC one so probably why it gets the most use. :)

Oh and I have a Fenix UC 35 on my nightstand and one on an AR. Funny when I see my "rifle" plugged in to a USB brick in the kitchen to recharge!

:D

And regarding Nitecore since that was the OP, I've heard good things about them and wouldn't have any problems adding one to the rotation!

I had that bug too. Stay off the dang torch forums!!! HAHA
Don't get me started in posting pictures. I can come across as majorly OCD'd :D

Here's a short (outdated) list of mine.

Ok you win!

My "rechargeable" AR: :D

IMG_3800.JPG

The Fenix UC 35 is a good torch.

Similar to my rechargeable shotgun. It is odd to see the wires. LOL!!
I have a good supply of spares and chargers.

Standard battery types are so out of date. Even with the claimed LED Upgrades. People still use them out of convenience of off-the-shelf consumption. Recharging batteries is easier than recharging my ammo cache. LOL

Here's my take. As a mechanic, I need a good, reliable flashlight I can use all day every day. I've had the same streamlight (2, actually. 1 for work, 1 for home) for 6 years and it's been run over, soaked in oil, rained on and, regrettably, used as a light hammer once or twice. Still works great. So that's my brand 100% based on lived experience. No others will do though I hear great things about surefire...

When I turned wrenches for a living and even when I managed a team doing so, my trusty Streamlight Strion held steady. I ended up giving it to dad, looked like it had been through two wars. It just finally gave up the ghost about a month ago! :)

He replaced it with a Surefire. Both good brands. That old Strion was the LED version and I'm pretty sure the battery croaked. But dad decided he liked Surefire better.

Gotta say, I dropped it so many times, ran over it a few and loaned it to my techs when I was a SM. Oil, coolant, trans fluid, gear oil, gasoline and diesel. It was exposed and dunked a few times in all of them. Just kept going.

I really like good flashlights. :)

^nothing better than a good flashlight. Don't believe? See how fast you get with a harbor freight special. Can't see, can't work

The one and ONLY tool/s I can recommend from HF are their deep well impact sockets. Virtually unbreakable, even with cheaters.

Everything else, yeah....no.

Back on topic. :D

I know you guys are talking about the tactical flashlights. But here is my recent change. From this:

DmMnW85.jpg

to this:

Pvc63I3.jpg

I used the heavy sealed beam lantern for years, especially when crawling around in attics and under buildings. Those lantern batteries have gotten expensive. So I discovered the little plastic p.o.c. LED light at Harbor Freight, cost like $3.00. Runs on three AAA cells, last forever. Small (about four inches long), easy to carry, cheap, power lasts long time. It has a choice of focused beam or diffuse area light. What's not to like? I have converted most AC illumination in my home to LED, one car.

I have a pile of Mag Lites, only a couple are LED. Years ago, I had some of the original Kel Lites, the police flashlight that really started tactical flashlights. "This isn't just a flashlight, it's also a club." Do they still use those in police work? Or did the ACLU get them banned? I sold the Kel Lites, they turned into collector's items that people were willing to pay lots of money for. Another who knew.

One of my recurring chores is to periodically check the batteries in all my flashlights. Of course, mine are all dry cell, no rechargeables. If dry cells get leaky, they can destroy a flashlight if not caught in time.

I got my replacement, but I still get hints/ads for other lights.

This catches my eye - 1800 Lumen is, a lot.
down to 1 lumen - good for night, looking in bags/keyhole etc.,
but next is 80, which is not exactly dimm,
And pretty small ( not chest pocket small, but pretty small )

For your consideration

Just as another option FYI I had good luck with this one which is $27 . 1000 lumen and includes battery, charger, pressure switch, and offset mount. I felt it was plenty bright enough for indoors with no other light sources on. I sold it with a gun I sold and now I regret selling it. Ill have to buy another one.
