Flash/break timing question

I recently added a new break to one of my rifles, after getting it timed right with the supplied shims I noticed a small gap between the inside of the break and the tip of the barrel. Is this going to be an issue? I am assuming carbon will build up in that gap but will it cause any other negative effects when running suppressed and non suppressed?
