Anyone that owns Glocks, and is as horribly OCD as I am, may have noticed the issue their guns have with "Pig Nosing." That is when the dust cover warps from the heat of firing and curls up to give the gun that pig nosed look. This is not a reliability or performance concern. It is purely cosmetic, but it bothered the heck out of me.

I decided to try and fix the issue on one of my G23's yesterday.

My G23 had a perfectly straight frame at first but after just 50 rounds at the range the dust cover warped. I fixed it yesterday (all it took was a heat gun and about 30 seconds of work) and today it survived 50 rounds of shooting without warping back so I am hoping it is fixed for good.

Here is a video of me fixing the gun if anyone is interested.

Damn, I love your videos but that is really OCD lol.

I had to go look, and sure enough. Wouldn't have ever noticed something like that, probably ever. Hmm, I have a heat gun and time, but too worried about 'fixing' something that doesn't seem to be a real problem.

Seems that Glock would be aware of that and use a polymer compound that would not warp.

Yes, but that would probably cost an extra $1 a gun. They can't take that kind of hit to their profits. Plus, it would push most of there guns up to the $500 mark and most Glock fans think $500 is a lot more than $499.

Thats why I like the subcompacts, no pig nose. I tried a different method about 6 years ago and it would return to the upward slant after shooting it. I will give this a shot, thanks.

If you go out and run some mags through it and it stays level/flat I guess I'll do it. Damn. Now that I know about it, it bugs me hahahaha. (G17)

Again, really appreciate all the videos.

Same here, I never really noticed it but after shooting about 100 rounds through my 19 yesterday I'm noticing a little warping, not as bad as the OP's 23 but this is still bothering me. I gotta fix this later lol, weird how my 26 doesn't have this issue though

Silly boys and your tupperware toys. I don't seem to have a problem with any warping with my 1911.

    Let the flaming begin :battlehorse::battlehorse::battlehorse:

    Ingenious fix, btw.

LOL! I've just joined the ranks of your tens-and-tens of fans! You definitely lighten up the mood on such a horrible and dangerous topic as gun ownership- nice work!

    Couple of points.

    1. You just gave me a great idea to save the serial numbers of my Glocks…..While making this fix I can also brand the serial number on my person somewhere!
    2. If you are that OCD, then why don’t you get a manicure before making these videos? LOL

Went and looked at mine and saw the same thing. Gun works great, not going to mess with it.

G17 is perfect and doesn't appear to have this "problem". And if it did I wouldn't be crazy enough to try and "fix" it either. But if you like it.
