Five shot and wounded at Texas home, suspected gunman dead
(Reuters) - A woman and four children were shot and critically wounded on Wednesday in a Texas home, and the suspected killer was dead after apparently shooting himself in the head, police said.
The local school district in Bay City, Texas, described the incident on its Facebook site as a "terrible domestic family tragedy" that took place at a home near one of its schools. It said no students or staff were injured.
The children who were shot were airlifted to various regional hospitals in nearby Houston, Bay City Police Department spokesman Andrew Lewis said. The wounded woman was also taken to hospital and was undergoing surgery, he said.
Police said detectives were still trying to determine the relationship of the alleged shooter to the victims. They did not know the conditions of the wounded.
