Description was close enough ( 38 revolver ) that police were on the fence and took pistol as there was some question . Some good advice posted on here which I hadn't thought of, particularly the showing of serial #'s on posts. Thanks

Gun broker keeps records and most sellers are dealers. Good point nonetheless.

The field offices have been friendly and helpful on the phone the couple of times I've called Pdx and Seattle with a question. In one case they could have taken a handgun that showed up at my door w/o going through an ffl but they didn't, followed their suggestion how to take care of it and never heard any more about it.

IIRC the last time I called it was tx'd to Seattle. Anyone know if the Pdx office is still open?
