Firearms as an investment

I still haven't thought of anything better than used firearms, that can be used while being held and still hold a substantial amount of their purchased value.

Even budget ARs could fill this bill. A budget AR could be assembled for under $300. It would be hard to find an AR (even budget home built ones) that won't sell at $180. My Intel and Paramount investments are down more than 40%, and I can't take those out to the range.

Quality hand tools like snap-on brand might be a useful store of value. If you can pick them up used for a bargain they will likely retain a substantial amount of their value, even if you use them.

The problem in OREGON with firearms as investments is the actual INVEST part. Since SB941 years ago put a stop to private sales you are forced to go FFL. And why private sales happen. Most FFL as not transfer friendly as they want the gun sale to people.
Not serve as your go between.
For now I think AMMO is or was the thing to do. I have cases upon cases that I paid less then 50% of the going rates today.
Me and my family could never use it all unless we get a new POTUS that thrust us into civil unrest.
But that or a zombie apocalypse.
I learned about Ammo from a guy I use to take my businesses trucks for fuel.
He said everyone has cars, but they are useless without fuel. Best investment he ever made.
He sold the place when the CORPs started making mom and pop gas impossible to compete with those owned by the CORPs.
And ammo is the same. The firearm is useless without ammo.
If you have ammo stocked in California its probably worth more then Gold.
