The first number likely is...the second one, maybe not. Fact is we have excellent data when shootings occur and are stopped by police. We know who or how many shooters were there, how many rounds they likely shot, how many body bags were needed at the scene, and how many cops it took and time it took to end the threat.

On the flip side, a CCW could pull on a convenience store robber who then goes running. No one dies. Police report may not even get filed. Statistically, how do you classify this? So, when that stat says that on average ~2 people die in shootings where civilians are armed and present...there's likely a good bit of guesswork and assumption built into that one.

It'd be nice if memes came with sources sometime.
