Burst fire would be a Machine Gun but it would not be Full Auto. Full Auto is hold the trigger and it shoots until empty. 3 round burst would be burst fire.
We are talking about technical semantics that are way over the head of the people (e.g., Associated Press) who don't have a clue about semi-auto vs. full auto. People who call AR-15s "machine guns", who wouldn't know the difference between an Assault Rifle and a MG much less an LMG vs. HMG vs. MP vs a Battle Rifle. People who don't know the difference between a clip and a magazine. People who call just about anything an "Assault Weapon".

That was the point of the meme.

I disagree. What would you call it then? Semi full auto?

Considered by whom?
No it's selective fire…
Semi-auto or semi-automatic means that one round will fire once the trigger is pulled. Once you let go of the trigger, the gun will ready another round to shoot. You can only shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger. Basically, one pull = one shot.

FULLY-AUTOMATIC

As you might have guessed it, fully-automatic is when you pull and hold the trigger and multiple rounds get fired for as long as you hold the trigger until you are out of ammo in your magazine.

burst mode or burst-fire is a firing mode enabling the shooter to fire a predetermined number of rounds, usually two or three rounds on hand held weapons.

Rate of fire is what classifies it… I understand that it automatically loads the next round but that's not what classifies it.

To the layman, there is semi-auto and full auto. If you want to inject select fire or burst mode into the conversation, that's fine, but it would help if you clarified at the beginning that you see three categories where many know of only two.
