I would have to go with the first of the worst, different times for different cultures (Asian and European).
Hangonnnes, and arquebuses. Gunpowder arrow launchers. Those guys must have had massive cojones to keep going back to the drawing board with missing fingers and eyes.

Same basic thought I have when eating something really weird and I have to think " who decides to try and eat a sea urchin???"

Cold War. The Mas 49/56 is my newest acquisition from that era and it's superb. Speaking of, if anybody has any 7.5x54 sitting around I'll buy it

Late Cold War—I wouldn't mind having a MIRV in the safe, although an AS VAL would be cool and easier to get ammo for.

Hmmm...let me think...Oh yeah...Firearms from the 1770's to the 1880s....
I also enjoy .22 rifles from the 1940's - 70's , as well as center fire sporting rifles , even well done "sporterized rifles" from that era.
