I've got some old GI issue stuff that'll eat any plastic. Prolly don't use that, lol.

Prolly the old RBC solvent... used that in basic training, it had some "bite" when applied to cuts in yer hands. Years later a study found that children of GI's who had extended exposure to the stuff would sire children who had no knuckles, and a second evil head.... :D

I like eezox, yet my clp can from 1982 remains mostly unused.

"Eezox".... sounds like a name for legendary porno lube. o_O

:D

I seen the essox mentioned in a review a couple years ago. Same picture as tested.
I'm curious as well. This is why I've stuck with BF CLP as a do-all
The bad thing about specialized products is that they often lack in other aspects.. like frog lube turning to glue while still staying put.

I love Hoppe's and think the smell is nostalgic. You just have to make sure the lid is screwed on all the way and threaded properly...I found this out the hard way. My bottle of Hoppe's #9 lives in an MTM Range Box, laying on it's side and in a ziplock bag with a few paper towels.

I recently discovered a product called Slip 2000 Carbon Killer. It works pretty decent and smells like oranges. Just don't drink it.:D

Hoppes is the best. A product that's worked for years.
I opened my jar yesterday, and the aromatics when I was done, still lingers in the house.

Hoppes will forever have a place on my bench.
To me I carry some gun lube in my range bag but the breakdown and cleaning happens at home.
I just bring a bore snake to the range to clean out the barrel.

I also like CLP.

I've used the foaming remington cleaner too and it does ok.

Boresnake and CLP at the range, teardown and full cleaning done at home.

I've tried 2/3d's of the ones previously mentioned in this thread to replace Hoppe's No. 9 - none of em cleaned worth a damn.

Yes, they smelled better, but actually do a good job removing what they need to remove, nope.

I start with a bit of this stuff: Bore Tech Eliminator Bore Cleaner | The Best Gun Cleaning Solvent From Bore Tech Get everything well coated and let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Then clean with some more poured on patches, then dry patches. It's seems pretty spendy to me but it really cuts through everything and has basically no smell at all -- it's worth it to cut down on the scrubbing. I don't know what the base is, but it seems like soapy water to me.

Because it does seem watery, I follow that up with a thorough cleaning with Hoppes to help drive out the water. Then after that CLP everywhere and on a few parts, like take-down pins, the barrels of rotating levers, bearing surface on rails, a very very thin coat of grease.

But I do that all at home. For the range I just have some bore snakes and little tubes of some random CLP which I can't find anywhere -- tiny little squeeze containers that won't seal but are so small I just toss them. It would be nice if there was some CLP that came in something like ketchup packets for single use. Anyway, I suppose an aerosol wouldn't spill.
