I don't understand our government. I don't understand how just a few years ago (1986 to be exact) our government canceled a contract with the company FIAT because Gaddafi was a major shareholder in the company (10%), and didn't want any U.S. dollars making their way to the pocket of a known international terrorist.. now we fast forward to 2009 and Chrysler, one of the TOP US companies is going to be sold off, to none other than FIAT, and none other than Gaddafi himself is still a Major share holder, now 14%. I find it it odd that our government would turn such a blind eye to facts of "who's" buying our US automaker, but really??? :ban:

okay.. just had to vent....

Seriously tho... Mayor Gregourine is still planning on pursuing the handgun ban in Seattle.. Just a bunch of tax payers money fixin to flow down the toilet when the first law suit gets filed.

Selling Chrysler to Fiat could only have happened after two things changed:

first, that the government have any business dictating to a real business what they must do and how, and second, that the government have taken a radical turn toward marxist socialism as the direction for our nation. Both coming together forshadow some sad days ahead. Of course, Fiat won't make much more a success of Chrysler than did Chrysler. Funny thing, it wasn't too many years back that Iacocca managed to cadge a large "loan" from the federal government, again, something never rightly done with taxpayer funds. Managed to turn it round. Then the Benz partnership was tried..... and found wanting. Mercedes rather wisely disengaged themselves of Chrysler. Now it is foundering, in part due to mismanagement, part due to union and executive greed, in part to poor long-term planning, starting back about 20 years ago.

Wonder what other unconstitutional antics our prezz will engage in in the near future?

it is not a sale in a sale you receive MONEY. Fiat gets chrysler for "undisclosed intelluctial propreties" or put in everyday talk--"i got a great idea give me your company".

It's really sad that Jeep, with all it's great military history, must end up in the hands of a worthless company like fiat.

They're certainly worth a lot more than Chrysler, which is less than worthless.

The country hasn't gone to **** at all. As a matter of fact, this is freedom/capitalism at it's finest. Companys that produce crap fail. Companies that produce a product that people want to buy (regardless of nationality) succeed. You should never, EVER, support a company based on it's nationality over quality. NEVER. If Fiat makes a better product at a better price, then those guidos deserve our money . And I believe that 100%.

I agree with the above but would like to point out that Fiat failed in the North American market in 1984

Somehow, other countries owning more and more of this country doesn't make me feel free.

So, you'd rather support an inferior American product? The only thing that does is reinforce substandard, backwards American thinking. Buy the better foreign product, I say. That teaches us, the American workers, to GOD FORBID, put in some hard work to earn peoples business. Americans need to learn that they can't sit on their fat, lasy arses and get a big, fat paycheck for nothing.

Sorry, not into the new world order. People buying foreign goods for the past 20 or 30 yrs. is what has put us into this mess. I understand that we have to trade with other countries, but what happened to fair trade? Speaking of inferior products, check out the junk China has been selling to us. I drive a Chevy truck, and have for many years, no trouble at all. My wife drives a Jeep Grand Cherokee, no trouble at all. We have owned these for over ten years? nothing inferior here. Guess I'm just old school, but I choose to support the country that I live in. Couldn't have a foreign car in my drive, the Harley's wouldn't like it. Won't oun an AK either, that was the gun used against us in the Nam. Take a USA made AR any day!

In the words of Yoda, "That is why you fail." Your Chevy and Jeep might be good BECAUSE they are over 10 years old. Have you seen Chevy's now-a-days?!? What a bunch of crap. Jeep was making Cherokees so bad, nobody would buy them. If you want to buy American, buy Ford. They are the only major American brand that didn't take government money, and are gaining market share. How did they do it? They aren't making the utter crap that GM and Chrysler are.

Don't even get me started on Harley. They are the worst example of overpriced, undermade, overhyped junk on the market. That is why they are shutting down plants and laying off workers. I'll write what many believe, but few will actually say:

You can get a better quality ride, at half the price, if you buy a Japanese made bike. FACTS are FACTS. The only people that buy Harleys are people that want to own a Harley. People that want to actually RIDE, buy a quality bike at a good price.

If American workers are lazy, DON'T support them!!!!!!!!
This will teach us to work harder and make a better product!!!!
