FF Handguard Question

I've got a couple of barrel nut wrenches, the problem is my wimpy vice won't hold the block tight enough. My bada** 1940s era cast iron bench vice got "lost" (along w all my other tools) in the divorce hubbub. The one I'm trying to use is a woodworking vice... fine as a third hand for holding things, but shallow and has no real clamping power... funny, I could say the same things about my ex...
