What has happened with 22lr is a bit out of control. But with other calibers I haven't really noticed a huge problem. I however have the ability to reload so I haven't been really concerned. I suspect the reason for the slow down is that they are anticipating less people stock piling so there volumes are probably going way down. I doubt it has anything to do with price gouging.

Yep - for the FIRST time in years I am seeing .22 out on a customer access display in Sportsman's WH AND still setting on the shelf ! AND i'll bet the Mfgs. are/were setting on large stockpiles hoping for a HRC victory to raise the price for what might have been the next hoarder rush on .22 - which ain't happening now.

First thing it's not gouging. You don't have to buy ammo. It's what the market will bare. Why would someone in business let a gun store or gun show person make way more profits than they do? Good business would say raise my price if the public is willing to pay those high prices and prices the store can still make money.
Other thing is what's your business so I know not to buy your product?o_O
You seem a little angry to manufacture ammo for me;)

Everyone make's money at normal price's No need to F everyone for an extra buck.

Sorry If I sounded "Angry" Didn't mean to hurt your feeling with a comment that wasn't directed at you.

I'll see If I can find a place around here that has sensitivity training I can take.

Sorry to tell you but I have no feelings left. You just sound angry.
Maybe you don't understand this market? If federal is selling a brick of 22lr for to a store for say 10 bucks, the store sells it for 15 bucks. Then it gets sold for $45 at a gun show.
A smart business man would raise the wholesale price,no?
What 'smart' business man wouldn't? They don't manufacture ammo to be sold by a third guy at a gun show, the end game was thought to be at a retail shop.
Y'all keep blaming it on the big guys, when it's the buying public that has set the prices they will pay for ammo.
It's not gouging when someone is willing to pay for something they don't need.
Oh you do need it? Then you should have bought it before.
You didn't need it before? Then this is the price.
This shnit it real simple and not worth getting your panties in a bind over. No one is telling you to go shoot 1000 rounds a weekend or at all.
Maybe this sport is too much for you?
Just stop the whining about prices. Everything is going up.
( the manufacturers') Land taxes, electricity, every cost.
As far as the employees, like I've said before, they should have known there was an end to the rush. There always is.
Employers alway paint a great picture. Work till the end of time!
Jobs come and go. You need to be aware of that all the time. Your job is not set in stone( anyone's)
OK I'm off the soap box

The days of when I grew up in the 50's & 60's of going to work for maybe 1 or 2 employers in your lifetime is no longer there. From the time I was 16 to 38 I had worked continuously for only 3 employers. From 38 to 50(forced out of working due to disability) working in the construction industry I changed employers 17 times although I worked for several multiple times. Things got slow I learned to immediately jump ship as they aren't going to find make work for me as had been the case in my earlier work experience, although one time I was kept on doing basically nothing but avoiding white hats(my foreman came up and said I have good news & I have bad news. The good news is I am getting laid off, the bad news is they are keeping you on for another week). I even was self employed for almost 3 years. And the fact I got rehired more than once at more than one employer said that I was a good worker and not a flake. It was hard at first because I had been instilled with the notion of loyalty to your employer growing up but learned to adapt. Life is not as simple as it used to be.

Hiring and firing is common in free enterprise. Want to have a healthy economy? Get government out of it. Make hiring a risk-free proposition, which it currently is not.

Read any account from the 19th century when there was no so-called "safety net" other than that provided by family and churches. People could walk in off the street and get a job. This happened because hiring was risk-free; if a shop owner did not like the way the employee worked, at the end of the week he handed the guy his cash and just said, "Don't come back." The employee gained by learning a lesson, and became more conscientious in his next job. All the incentives were pointing in the right direction, leading to a robust economy.

As to the cost of ammo, that is up to the seller. If he charges too much he loses market share. "Charging what the market will bear" is just a pejorative for people working in their own interest. There is nothing wrong with that. "Scalping" is just another pejorative. People who use terms like this don't understand the market, and are probably suffering from the effects of a socialist government school "education".

Keep also in mind that prices going up might be mostly due to inflation. The dollar is not what it used to be; thank the Federal Reserve for that.
