The Last of the Breed is a great read, his best in my opinion. A fighter piolet is shot down and imprisoned by Russians in the 80s. He has to survive on his skills learned as a child in Idaho.

Read that book years ago; a Tom Clancy-esque tale isn't what you expect from Lamore but it works.

One of my favorite authors : Robert A. Heinlein.
Two excellent "survival" novels by him:
Tunnel in the Sky and
Farnham's Freehold.

Bradford Angier... How to Stay Alive in the Woods.
My older brother gave me that book when I was about ten. Great book, easy read. Before long I was catching snakes, gutting them and roasting them over a fire in the swamp. Simpler, care free times, lol.

+1, read it in my teens. Still have it.

Another one in my humble library; Swan Song, by Robert McCammon. Set in post-nuclear war America, about a bad guy, described as "a malevolent force that feeds on the dark desires of countless followers" etc.

Stinger by McCammon is one of my favs!!!

William W. Johnstone - All, but especially the Phoenix Rising series. Usually he wrote westerns and a few about the devil but he also wrote a some patriot apocalyptic stories.
