When taking inflation into account it seems the old war horses were not cheap to make.

FN charged a pretty penny for the FAL. Far more than any other rifle supplier.
Countries that used the FAL usually set up shop and rolled their own under licence from FN.
The early ones were works of art that's for sure. Love the early G1's that have Weapon of War engraved in Belgian on the receiver.
