Fall Bear

Its coming up real fast. What do you like to do when bear hunting?

I've only gone twice with no "good" encounters. By good i mean a bear with no cubs.

I usually hunt down at the grants pass area as i go there around the same time for silver grey squirrels and band tailed pidgeons.
Might sound dumb but i carry a marlin 336 chambered in 35 rem. its a nice gun and i love lever action. already got a deer with this gun and it was handed down to me. i also carry a 12 gauge for when i am having a difficult time finding good bears and i go for the silvers...bad combo i know lound noise means all the good bears disappear but hey at least im shooting.

I have never actually hunted bear, though I always buy the tag just in case I run into one while hunting deer,or elk. This year, I will be archery hunting, so I plan to go "bear hunting" in the same area I hunt elk. Really, it's just an excuse for me to go do some scouting a couple weeks before archery season.

I got my fall bear tag. Been seeing the same one in the same spot. Might be bringing him home this weekend.

Depending on what mood I'm in I'll grab either my Remington 700 or Savage Axis both in 30-06. I handload Barnes TTSX 180 grainers. It is also my deer "guns" of choice.
