These days it couldn't hurt. Obviously not every journalist is a left wing mouth piece (but the majority of them seem to be). However most of them are pretty dyed-in-the-wool with their view points and from schooling. There's one Oregonlive reporter in particular who is blatantly anti-cop. She has gone thru the police situational awareness training and ride alongs. However, she still takes every opportunity to excoriate the police any time an opportunity comes along. She has her own bitter personal agenda that unfortunately she gets to express via the media. So change their minds with training and inclusion? One can be optimistic, but it's like trying to throw back ocean water with a thimble.
IMHO, their minds are closed. Be careful who you open up to in their field. Everything you say to them will be used by them at a later date.
