I'm not saying that the movies are realistic, I just enjoy them for the entertainment they are. : ) It's similar to grandma's apple pie. Even if you find a stem, you keep eating with a smile on your face!

I was watching the series "Cobra Kai" on YouTube the other day. It is a Karate Kid reboot using the same actors. Johnny gets inspiration throughout the series while watching Iron Eagle. Its pretty funny.

Not a reboot, Daniel-san, but a sequel. A sequel that kind of acknowledges the truth, Daniel Larusso is a prick, and was the primary antagonist of the movie. Johnny was the target of Larusso's campaign of harassment and abuse, to the point he grew into a broken, bitter shell of himself.

I've done some work side by side with both the Belguiqes and the kloggies (Dutch military). They were all draftees then and had bubblegum attitudes. Not saying they were bad people, they were good folks, just saying they were true crap as soldiers. The German military had the same problem at the time with lots of bad attitude draftees, but the upper level refused to accept sub-par performance from low level soldiers.

Before I got to Kadena there was a story of an F-15 unloading into a concrete barrier, with dirt burm behind it. Supposedly blew threw 100's of rounds before the COMMIE (communication specialist) let off the trigger. They said the hole was so big that you could drive a tug through it.

This happened while setting on the ground getting maintenance. Yes, something wasn't pinned, or the safety was broken - or both? They aren't supposed fire when the landing gear is down - unless something is broken.

I question where this one is setting and looking like that. Just doesn't "look" right to me.

"The Belgian Air Force confirmed a fire broke out on the base during maintenance work, causing one plane to burn while causing collateral damage in a second, without mentioning cannon fire as being the cause.

Belgium's Ministry of Defense saidin a statement that two technicians suffered hearing injuries and were treated on the spot, while adding that an investigation into the incident had been launched.

The Belgian Air Force did not respond to a request for comment "

Having played with both military and civilian aircraft, you have to make the airplane think its on the ground AND arm the guns before you get a shot off. I can't speak specifically to the F-16, but typically you have to "slug the gear" by putting steel clips or other gadgets on a minimum number of "weight on wheels" sensors, pin the gear to keep it from folding up, and something else, but I'm too rusty. On the civilian aircraft, you also had to do something else, but I can't recall at the moment. I also always say that you have to have at least two hazards to have an accident, and the more hazards there are, the worse the accident will be. Methinks the underpaid and disinterested conscripts weren't really thinking, or thought they could have a little fun and things got out of hand. Either way, it's the crew, not the bird. I've heard other stories about accidents involving other systems with the airplane in air mode as well, and it always starts with crew and no considerations about safety.
