So 2019 Christmas I got a smith and Wesson ez 9 and was shooting some self defensive ammo threw it and this happened. (see pictures below). I Called the smith and Wesson number tried to get parts ordered for it on three separate occasions. all three times they sent me the wrong part finally after waiting probably 3 months I called again and asked for the same part as before and this time some one more knowledgeable answered and they said that "smith and Wesson couldn't ship that part and that it had to be factory installed" I explained that you could buy the same part for the 380 ez online but they said for the 9mm it was different. The lead time is 6 months… lol so I bit and asked for them to send me the shipping label via email. I never received the email I've spent over a year trying to fix it and just want to shoot it what are the odds it will still work with out a catastrophic failure input welcome.

That's the second odd failure I've seen in a modern Smith pistol. First was one posted here where the barrel wasn't heat treated, possibly at all, and mushed itself banging on the slide. That was a shield.
