They thought they were oh-so-much-smarter than everyone who said Obama was just waiting for the right opportunity and he'd turn gun-grabber in a heartbeat. I think you guys misunderstand the average liberal gun owner. I think that by and large they know full well where the progressives want to go in regards to guns, but their other lefty causes are more important to them. A liberal gun-owning acquaintance told me once that he would be glad to give up his guns some day if it meant getting some "social justice" in this country.

When they would come on and say "Vote for Mr. O, he's not after your guns", I firmly believe that for the most part they were being disingenuous, knowing full well what he would do, but not really caring so long as they could fool a few swing voters.

Remember, "gun control" does not necessarily mean "gun ban". It means big brother controls who owns guns. The well-connected leftist gun enthusiast will always be able to have his toys; he just doesn't think the unenlightened masses should have them.

The Left is and always has been about telling people how to live their lives because they, the fascist leaders, know what's best for everyone. Whether it's the size of soda drink you are allowed to have or our guns, the Supreme Leadership Council In the Left's minds will always know best.
To me that's why this Universal Background Check System being offered as a compromise is wrong. It just opens the door. If you are right and the other guy is wrong when you compromise so they don't feel bad are you the half-right or just behaving half-assed.....
