European Police model S&W 65-3?

Just visited my local gun shop, the next handgun I had planned was something in .357 Magnum. Wouldn't you know it, he had a used S&W 65-3 Stainless.

The strange thing, it's DAO and has import marks. He said it's a European Police model, they were apparently only allowed to carry DAO revolvers. Has anyone ever heard of this? I can't seem to find anything online about it.
