Elk/deer hunting -- Baker City, OR

I just came back from a long trip east that took me along I-84 into Idaho. What a beautiful part of the State of Oregon! Does anyone have any tips on general areas nearby Baker City for elk/deer hunting?

I don't expect any specifics on areas or secret spots, but any information would be helpful. I've never tried to go east to hunt, but would like to try it this year for a change during bowhunting season.

Been hunting up around sumpter and greenhorn since 2001 herds have Dwindled I see lots of Cougar and wolf tracks

+1. Worth the drive. Hope to spend close to a couple weeks there this year during archery season.
(Don't trust Google maps though, last year was a nightmare)
