I sure do like taking first time shooters to the range and making sure they enjoy the experience. This time I took my 17 year old niece who's visiting from Denmark. Being from Denmark, she'd never fired a handgun {even privately owned handguns never leave the range} and she had some idea that handguns were dangerous.

On the range, she fired every thing I brought and went through about 200 rounds of ammo! Guns fired were Ruger Mark III, Ruger Mark III Hunter, S&W model 617 x 6", NAA Mini Revolver, S&W model 642 with CT grips, S&W 9mm, Ruger Black Hawk convertible {.357 mag}, and Bond Arms Snake Slayer .410. My 14 year old daughter fired all the same guns but instead of just sampling, she put a full box of .357 and 2 boxes of 9mm down range. :) Says she want's my Black Hawk for her own! :paranoid:

Back at home, while cleaning guns, the niece mentioned that she'd seen in movies that a lot of people carry guns in places like Nevada casinos, etc and asked if it worried me to be where so many people were carrying guns. My reply was, "If you were a bad guy with a knife and wanted to steal some money, would you go to where no one had a gun or to where everyone had a gun?" After a couple of seconds she said, "Ooooooooooooooh. I see."

I agree. I've bought a few Rugers as gifts through the years.
