My problem with how the government deals with Ebola is how is wanted to be seen as smarter than the other nations and know everything. The truth is that humans know very little about living things, even the most simply types like viruses. African nations have banned travel from the infected areas, Australia also banned. But we have to look smarter and say we don't, because we know better.

The other argument of we need the travel going to help the infected nations is also bogus. We can ban all civilian travel and then still have special military and humanitarian travel approved. The idea of if we ban travel then some people would try sneak in unnoticed and make tracking even harder is also flawed. The number of people willingly break the law is the minority. Somehow they think laws are not going to be followed and that is OK.

As for the NJ/Maine nurse think she knows better and don't want to be quarantined, she could be right that she will not infect anyone. However, because we don't know everything about the disease, even the government does not know everything, it is prudent for the government to be cautious. The mentality of "I know better so I don't need to follow the law" only creates anarchy.

Anti-quarantine nurse Hickox was trained as intelligence officer by the CDCNurse Kaci Hickox, who has made headlines over the last few days by refusing to quarantine herself after returning from the Ebola front lines in Africa, turns out to have been trained as an "intelligence officer" under a two-year CDC program modeled after the U.S. military.

As you can see from the document below, Hickox graduated from a two-year CDC intelligence officer training program in 2012. This is the same nurse whose LinkedIn page was recently scrubbed to hide her ties to the CDC, an agency that stands to benefit tremendously in both political power and budgets if an Ebola outbreak sweeps across America.

The official intelligence designation granted to Nurse Hickox by the CDC was "Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer," and she is a graduate of the 2012 EIS program according to this CDC document (PDF). (See page 138 - 139 for her name and photo, or view photo below.)

That same year, the CDC graduated 81 such "intelligence officers" whose names and photos are also listed in the public document.

The CDC models its operations after the U.S. military

What is a CDC intelligence officer? To understand the answer, you first have to realize that the CDC models itself after the U.S. military which is why CDC "officers" wear military costumes when appearing before Congress, complete with shoulder stripes, stars and badges.

Just as with the U.S. Army, the CDC also has "intelligence officers" whose jobs include gathering intelligence, analyzing intelligence and conducting counterintelligence ops. The CDC's sanitized description of this job is found on this web page which states:

EIS officers are on the public health frontlines, conducting epidemiologic investigations, research, and public health surveillance both nationally and internationally.

EIS-Officer-Ebola-Supplies-2014.jpg That same page shows a photograph of a CDC intelligence officer wearing a military costume, complete with multiple stars on the shirt collar and a military-style name tag. These are symbols used to project the appearance of authority by adopting military dress even though the CDC isn't even under the command of the Dept. of Defense.

The uniforms are just one sign of the militarization of the CDC, an organization so steeped in delusional theatrics that it still won't admit sneeze particles can travel farther than 3 feet or that Ebola actually has a 42-day incubation period, not the 21 days we are repeatedly told.

Spanish intelligence has intercepted messages passed between jihadists online discussing the weaponisation of the deadly Ebola virus for use against the West, while a blackmailer in Prague has threatened to unleash the virus unless the Czech Republic pay him one million bitcoin, a volume of online currency worth over £200 million. The national secretary of state for security in giving evidence to the Spanish Senate revealed online jihad propagandists had issued an edict to followers to kill Westerners by any means possible. Some of the methods suggested included "deadly chemical products from laboratories", "poisonous injections" and "Ebola as a poisonous weapon", reports theLocal.es.

Rumours of Ebola as a weapon have long circulated among the international intelligence community, as speculation arose over the potential successes of the former Soviet Union's extensive biological weapons programme in the last century. It is thought that at least one terrorist organisation, the Japanese Aum Shinrikyo cult has attempted to cultivate the Ebola for attacks. The cult killed thirteen on the Tokyo subway in 1995 with a release of potent nerve agent Sarin gas.

Although Aum Shinriyko and Islamic Fundementalists have an ideological reason for engaging in biological warfare, the communications received by the Czech government last week appear to have been entirely driven by a profit motive. The bitcoin demand, which is worth £210 million in fiat currency terms was demanded in three tranches, one payment on Monday this week, a second on Wednesday, and a third after the blackmailer handed the Ebola material to the government.

The deadline has now passed for the payments and the Czech government has no intentions to cave in. Responding to the communication, which stated: "If you don't answer this letter, we will send press releases to media and inform people on social networks such as Twitter, Facebook and Youtube to let them know how negligent the Czech offices are", a spokesman for the Czech authorities said the cold weather would probably stop the infection spreading far.

Although the demand is being investigated as a blackmail case rather than a terrorist threat, the investigation is being retarded by the highly sophisticated techniques used by the extorter. The bitcoin demand and encrypted message delivered by proxy means the true culprit may not be found. Should they be located, the Daily Mail reports the threats carry a jail sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

Easy fix...
Just make sure the virus gets returned to the terrorist scumbags a thousand times over.
They may reconsider that stupidity.

Can't possibly be true. Our MD Governor told us there was no risk because there were no direct flights between Oregon and Africa. Next you are going to tell us that viruses can get here all the way from states we can't even see.

Canada Suspends Visas From West Africa Ebola Hot Zone….
Posted on October 31, 2014 by sundance
ebola-one.jpg?w=300&h=225 CANADA - Canada is following in Australia's footsteps and is suspending visa applications for residents and nationals of the West African countries battling Ebola.
The federal government signalled it would stop issuing visas in the worker, student or visitor class and won't issue any pending permanent residency visas for people from those countries either.
Any applications already in the system will also not be processed at this time. Continue reading

OK, now Oregon has it's own Ebola patient, inconveniently around election time. No news in the last 48 hours... wanna bet that her HIPAA rights will stop updates until after the election? Just an FYI though (sadly, reality, like math, just is), providing a patient update will not violate the patients rights. Remember to vote, and if you are still in love with the current King, vote often!

My friend just went to his EN&T Dr. and was queried as to weather he had been to W. Africa or PDX in the previous 3 weeks, or running a temp. Someone is taking the risk seriously o_O

Looking at some of this.
I doubt good conservatives and conservative Christians advocate the suicide thing. Its mostly left leaning people, so why not just encourage them. Would help the right voting pool :D

But ebola was never going to come to "PDX" ...........

NEWS FLASH: from the offices of the PNW Regional Anti Committee.
The false, imperialist, right wing reports of Ebola's presence in the PDX area are simply the vaporings of the gun lobbies gone mad!
While a person showed symptoms similar to those of Ebola, it is confirmed that the patient has nothing worse than a food borne illness that, unfortunately, presents like a hemorrhagic virus! Nothing to see here folks.
PS: I hope the poor person that is under Ebola watch is going to be OK!

But but but there are no direct flights - u cant just hop on a connecting flight and leave your port of entry - oh wait yes you can. Dr Ditzhaber needs forcibly retired before he screws us even more.

Anyone else hear that big sucking sound?

This is just wonderful. I wonder if she plans on any more bike rides..

Report: Kaci Hickox's Roommate In Africa Has Ebola

A Maine official said Friday that Kaci Hickox's roommate while she helped Ebola patients in Africa has been diagnosed with Ebola, <broken link removed> .

"The respondent's roommate in Africa became infected without knowing how she became infected with Ebola," said Sheila Pinette with the Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adding that "any potential risk to respondent from that incident has passed."

It's also unclear exactly how Dallas nurses Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, the only two people to become infected with Ebola within the U.S., contracted the disease.

Hickox worked as a nurse treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone with Doctors Without Borders and was the subject of a forced, three-day quarantine in New Jersey when she registered a slight fever when she returned to the U.S.

Maine officials have requested that Hickox quarantine herself at her home until the 21-day incubation period for Ebola is up on Nov. 10, but she's refused to cooperate. A Maine judge rejected the state's request for a court-ordered quarantine on Friday.

"The court is fully aware of the misconceptions, misinformation, bad science and bad information being spread from shore to shore in our country with respect to Ebola," Judge Charles LaVerdiere wrote. "The court is fully aware that people are acting out of fear and that this fear is not entirely rational."

Hickox has been adamant that the quarantine request is not "based on science" and her former employer, Doctors Without Borders, has warned that the quarantines are "chilling" their efforts to keep volunteers coming to West Africa to help fight the Ebola crisis there.

But a vast majority of Americans support quarantines. A CBS News poll Wednesday found that 80 percent of Americans support quarantines for not only health care workers, but any travelers returning from West Africa
