Just curious if anyone knows anything. I got a phone call from a concerned friend thinking it was me. I can assure you it isint.....Just curious if this happened at the lanes or if it was just some tard being stupid.....Or a bow hunter with a ND......

Washco scanner said dude was shot in the L arm. Drove himself some distance. Was getting a police escort.....WCCCA showed trauma up around where the lanes would be.....just curious....

TIMBER, Ore. – A man was accidentally shot in the arm Sunday while out shooting with two other men in the woods near the town of Timber, Washington County sheriff's deputies said.

According to officials, the men were shooting guns in the woods when one accidentally shot another in the arm. They used a belt to help stop the bleeding and started to drive out of the area, back towards Highway 26.

They came across a Washington County Sheriff's Office deputy who used a tourniquet on the wound and escorted them to the hospital.

No word on the man's current condition.

The sheriff's office is investigating the shooting.

This is what scares me about shooting out in the state forest... And one reason I prefer to either shoot alone or with the wife... Will not shoot where strangers are shooting, I assume everyone else is incompetent, just keeps me alive for another day...

I went out with my SIL, his dad & two brothers Sat at the Greenwater pit. I have not shot around strangers in a public setting like that in years & was doing more watching and R O duties making sure others were paying attention, some smelled of alcohol.:mad::mad:

I am scheduled to help with a cleanup at that same location on Sept. 16th. We sure could use more vollenteers.:)

You sound like somebody I could shoot with, but we'll probably just wave at eachother as we find our own spots... lol

I also don't like others telling me how to shoot! ;)

How did this happen??? Did dude shoot himself or did someone else from his party shoot his bubblegum....??
Yep - the report is kind of 'vague' but it did indicate one shot another in the arm so yes - an obvious complete lack of attention to safety and while probably 'jumping to conclusion' I wouldn't be surprised to find out alcohol was involved.

In a crowded situation like I was in (not of my liking) there has to be "that guy" who cares enough to keep people safe (even strangers) directionneeds to be given. Making sure everyone on the firing line knows when the range is Hot or Cold and in an emergency, seize fire.
If your shooting near me I'm gonna have eyes on ya...

I just hope this didn't happen at the lanes, and this doesn't make it in the news.

We need the 4 rules posted at the lanes. Its surprising how often the rules are broken by people who say they've been shooting all their life and get offended if you say something. Every time the excuse is "its ok, its not loaded...", its never ok to break any one of the 4 rules. At least 3 of the 4 rules were broken in this story...

  1. All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. (For those who insist that this particular gun is unloaded, see Rule 1.)
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule. Its violation is directly responsible for about 60 percent of inadvertent discharges.
  4. Identify your target, and what is behind it. Never shoot at anything that you have not positively identified
